Photo Challenge – Week 10

Week 10 of my photo challenge with a twist…

Deciding to throw in another of my photo challenges, why?

A couple of reasons. Firstly, working full-time is taking up loads of my time and is quite intense. At the end of a working day, I really don’t feel like sitting at a laptop for even more hours. Secondly, picked up COVID-19 and not feeling great right now. I’m sure it was after attending a wine-tasting night this week as a plethora of hungry winetasters attended the function. I’ve been priding myself on keeping safe and having escaped COVID-19 for the last couple of years, but here we are – it was only a matter of time.

Onto the challenge before I nod off and go back to bed as can barely keep my eyes open. This challenge doesn’t involve too many rules to follow, if you decide to participate in my guessing challenge:

  • Post one of your favourite photos each week for as long as you like – no pressure
  • Your photo can be from any time, any place, and of anything. Start searching through your old or new chest of memories.
  • Remember to post a photo without any explanation or hints.
  • Ask your readers where the photo is taken, for a little fun.
  • Make the challenge as easy or as hard as you wish.
  • Nominate someone each Sunday.

Post wherever you wish, although please link to me so that I know you accepted my #photochallenge. If you’re not interested or don’t have time for this challenge, don’t stress. You can always pass this challenge along to someone that you know will join in…

I can never decide which photo to share from my Image Earth Travel posts or Nilla’s Photography site and choosing photos for a photo challenge without adding words is even trickier!

Red Zou tribe, Sapa, Vietnam, SE Asia
Any idea where I took this photo?

Today, I nominate the fabulous and intriguing blog Cats in Cambridge, for week 10 of this photo challenge. Check out Carolyn’s – also known as “yetismith” – great blog that shares many stories of her numerous cats, which are her family but also gorgeous photos of her abode.

Leave a comment and see if you can guess where this photo was taken…

oh No NIlla! I hope you are feeling better or feel better soon! It’s rubbish, me too after all this time, I thought I had escaped as well! Great photo! xx

      Thanks, Gill!
Tested negative again on Friday but still have a cough and flemmie chest. On the mend though and hope you are also? x

Hope you are feeling better now x

        Hi Gill
All better and hope that you’re having a wonderful festive season!
        Cheers
        Nilla x

PS. How many days has it been?

    1. Image Earth Travel Avatar

Since last Friday, I guess day 5. πŸ™

      1. equinoxio21 Avatar

You should begin to see improvement. Try not to start working too early. Even a mild (despite jabs) COVID can last a bit.

      2. Image Earth Travel Avatar

Too late, already returned today but worked from home.

      3. equinoxio21 Avatar

        Hmmm.

  3. equinoxio21 Avatar

Now I know why I hadn’t seen it. It. must be in my mail which I haven’t seen today. So you got the bug, eh? How are you feeling? Take antiinflamatory. Ibuprofen is good, if you have a headache of cough. Make sure you check your oxygenation…

    1. Image Earth Travel Avatar

Yeah sadly – I was priding myself on evading it for 2.5 years and now look…I let my guard down.
The winetasting last Wednesday night mingling with hundreds of people then started feeling ill Friday afternoon and Saturday morning was worse so in bed all day. Fever up in the evenings then down in the mornings since Friday. Taking Ibuprofen and paracetamol, citrus/honey drinks and a couple of days sick leave from work.
I haven’t been ill since 2015 in Estonia so I’m not complaining too much. πŸ˜‰

      1. equinoxio21 Avatar

Since 2015 is a good time span. Though you did stay in bed a bit. Take it easy for a few days. That thing is nasty, even with shots, and apparent “lightness”.
There is no coincidence. The wine-tasting certainly did it. Hope the wine was good? πŸ˜‰ 🍷

      2. Image Earth Travel Avatar

I thought so also, yeah, but it’s the only way to shake something.
Worked from home today and not too bad so think I’m on the mend.
Yes, the wine was good but not worth getting covid for – live and learn.

      3. equinoxio21 Avatar

Live and learn indeed. Good that you’re on the mend. But don’t take it for granted. I can understand you want to get back “up”, but start slow… PLease.

      4. Image Earth Travel Avatar

Thank you for the wise words. Going to bed early and reading so not doing much after work really.
Hope to test negative tomorrow – fingers crossed.
Have you had any long covid symptoms or repercussions after your dance with covid?

      5. equinoxio21 Avatar

Negative is not a favourable word.
I might have some consequences, can you believe that? Cardiac. Some fluctuation of blood pressure and pulse… Annoying. Doing some tests next week…

      6. Image Earth Travel Avatar

I tested negative today but my partner is still positive – just a faint line on his RAT so give it another couple of days, hopefully.
Consequences of COVID? Mann…that’s pretty cr*ppy!

      7. equinoxio21 Avatar

Hopefully you’ll be fine by Monday.
I don’t know yet. Seeing the doc next week… Doesn’t seem serious just weird. Ups and downs in BP and pulse. Weird. πŸ˜€

      8. Image Earth Travel Avatar

        Getting better each day. πŸ™‚
Hope that all goes well for you and it’s nothing too serious.

      9. equinoxio21 Avatar

Glad it’s been “light” for you. πŸ˜€
I don’t think it’s too serious. I wouldn’t be able to walk 8-10 kms daily for six weeks in Paris…

      10. Image Earth Travel Avatar

        Ha, ha πŸ˜€
GOod point but always wise to get things checked out just to make sure.

      11. equinoxio21 Avatar

        Always good to check. Cheers.

How’d I miss that one? I suspect, Burma or Northern Thailand? The Golden triangle? A Karen woman maybe?

    1. Image Earth Travel Avatar

Not sure but had to salvage your comment out of my Trash folder.
Sapa, Vietnam. A local said the lady was from the Red Zhao tribe. Love her strong facial features.

      1. equinoxio21 Avatar

You and I seem to be drawn to Spam. I do get some of your comments in my gmail junk mail… Tsss. (I’ve had spam mails from ‘abandoned’ WP sites for weeks. Support is very nice but they haven’t found a solution)
Looked up the tribe. Seem to have come from China a good while back. I was wondering about the head dress. Some Maya QuichΓ© tribes in Guatemala wear a similar headdress… Strange.

      2. Image Earth Travel Avatar

…and this one was also in the Trash! Nope, no solution at all really.
Yes, they did indeed but Sapa is so close to the Chinese border that it’s not surprising its people crossed over and settle in far northern Vietnam.
That’s very interesting. I looked the tribe up and definitely see similarities. I would love to travel through Central America. πŸ˜‰

      3. equinoxio21 Avatar

You would love Guatemala. You would see similarities everywhere. In the clothes, shapes, design, etc. Probably even faces.

      4. Image Earth Travel Avatar

I’m sure and probably the street art also… πŸ˜‰

Hey Woman! Ugh I escaped Covid then it got me too this year. Knocked me off my feet for a few day. So I wish you a speedy recovery. Can’t do the challenge but beautiful shot. So deep in thought.

    1. Image Earth Travel Avatar

Hi, yeah, I was priding myself on avoiding the dreaded lurgy for over 2 years but we are…
No problem at all and totally understand. Thank you for your feedback, her face is what definitely drew me to take this shot.

  6. Agata 40thousandkm Avatar

Get well soon! πŸ™‚ Is it in Vietnam?

    1. Image Earth Travel Avatar

Thank you! Spot on, it’s in Sapa, Vietnam and she was from the Red Zhou tribe I believe.
Loved her face so couldn’t resist…have you been to Vietnam?

      1. Agata 40thousandkm Avatar

        Yes, beatiful face!
I was in Vietnam but only in Ho Chi Minh City (and around). There is still much for me to discover πŸ™‚

      2. Image Earth Travel Avatar

Spent 10 weeks in Vietnam travelling overland from south to north and still didn’t see everything.
I’d love to return as I still have a lot to see and hope you get there again…

      3. Agata 40thousandkm Avatar

Wow! Amazing photo gallery! It must have been great 10 years! And I hope to be back there too πŸ™‚

      4. Image Earth Travel Avatar

        Thank you, Agata!
The last trip was around 6 years and hope to go again in the not-to-distant future.

  7. Yetismith Avatar

Covid oh no! Dump it soon! Very honoured that you nominated me though I’m not very good at these things. Lots of cat pics! My travel pics are old and don’t scan too well. I do have one I can think of, if I can find it…. I think your photo here….can I cheat and say Golden triangle? I’m going with Laos? Feel better.

    1. Image Earth Travel Avatar

Yeah, it’s not great. I’ve been priding myself on escaping covid for over 2 years and now it’s finally caught up with me, but I can’t complain as I haven’t been ill since winter in Estonia back in 2015.
I have loads of old travel photos that I scanned back in 2014 and didn’t do a great job.
      You’re close but not quiet.
I’ll see if anyone else leaves me a suggestion before giving it away. πŸ˜‰

  8. Jill Weatherholt Avatar

    I hope you feel better!

    1. Image Earth Travel Avatar

      Thank you!
Considering I haven’t been ill since winter in Estonia in 2015, I can’t complain. πŸ™‚
